    The Pivoine Clip

    Back

The Pivoine is a set of two clips, one with a closing flower and the other opening. Today, the closing Pivoine clip is among the masterpieces in Van Cleef & Arpels’ private collection, while the opening Pivoine clip is in a private collection. Created in 1937, the jewel is not only representative of the floral influences that are so dear to the Maison, but also a triumph of technical virtuosity in its use of Mystery Set™.

This exceptional clip is adorned with 700 rubies of 71 carats, 43 baguette diamonds and 196 round diamonds. It was purchased in 1946 by Mahmoud Fakhry Pacha - the Egyptian ambassador in Paris - probably for H.R.H. Princess Faiza, the sister of H.M. King Farouk.
